For floating the concrete on
radial transitions, fabricate floats with the same radius as
the transition. Wooden handles can be purchased at masonry
supply stores. The handles are flat, but can be cut at an
angle on both sides. Attach a blade of hardboard or phenolic
laminate with glue and screws to the wooden handle. This tool
will allow the finishers to float the surface of the placed
concrete without the gouging that would occur with flat blade
floats. Make enough for each member of the crew to have at
least one. The 8-feet radius float is in the lower right
corner.
