Dear name:
Thank you for your recent
donation to Columbia Foundation of --------- for the St Helens Skatepark
project. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. In return for your
contribution you have received no goods or services.
Diane C. Kem, formerly of
Deer Island, Oregon, and the community of Columbia County established the
Columbia Foundation in 1995. The Foundation’s purpose is to create and
nurture an environment which values lifelong learning and building community
relationships.
This year, Columbia
Foundation was invited to help develop and build the St. Helens Skatepark.
We view this as an exciting project because the skateboarders themselves are
directing it, and because it involves a variety of community organizations.
This approach of involving community members and a cross-section of
community groups was critical to our success in building Columbia Center.
Partners involved in the skatepark project include the City of St. Helens,
Named Catholic Church, the Columbia County Park and Recreation
District, and several individuals. The core leadership is coming from the
skateboarders who have been instrumental in designing the skatepark,
coordinating with City Council, speaking to community groups and planning
the construction process. The students have been great to work with and are
learning a great deal about the political process, project planning and
fund-raising.
Columbia Foundation is
continuing to build learning opportunities in the areas of technology,
leadership and organizational development, and operates with a countywide
focus. We are very interested in your feedback and ideas about future
projects you believe the Foundation should undertake.
Columbia Foundation was
granted non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service on April 26, 1995,
as a 501c(3) organization (EN ---------------).
We truly appreciate your
contribution,
Columbia Foundation
